The Nursery Assistant will play an important role in supporting children during lunchtime routines and afternoon sessions, helping to create a calm, safe, and nurturing environment. This position is ideal for a qualified Level 2 Nursery Assistant seeking consistent hours and long‑term stability. Duties as Nursery Assistant: Support children during lunchtime routines, including meals and transitions Supervise and engage children in a safe and nurturing manner Support children’s personal care and well‑being where required Encourage positive behaviour and social interaction Assist with play‑based activities and settling children after lunch Work collaboratively with nursery staff to maintain routines Ensure the environment remains clean, safe, and organised Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and early years procedures at all times Ideal Nursery Assistant: Holds a Level 2 Early Years qualification (essential) Experience working in a nursery or early years setting Calm, caring, and patient approach when supporting young children Strong understanding of safeguarding and child welfare Reliable and committed to daily lunchtime cover Able to work consistently from 11:30am to 3:30pm Good communication and teamwork skills Passion for supporting children’s early development Why Step Teachers?
