Job Summary:
The role of Vehicle Technician includes:
1. Testing, diagnosing, repairing, and servicing vehicles to high standards and specifications.
2. Examining vehicles, recognizing, and reporting defects or potential system failures.
3. Replacing tyres when worn, damaged, or faulty, adhering to technical standards and work instructions.
4. Using a range of tools to work on various vehicle makes and models.
5. Following manufacturer procedures and processes.
6. Diagnosing customer needs, explaining work required, and ensuring vehicle safety and roadworthiness.
7. Identifying faulty components per technical standards and instructions.
Organisational Structure:
This role reports directly to the ACL Workshop Development Manager.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Assisting in meeting vehicle turnaround times.
2. Providing excellent customer service.
3. Managing relationships with third-party suppliers for quick vehicle turnaround.
4. Collaborating with colleagues across the organisation.
5. Supporting parts ordering and repair processes, including outsourced services.
Authority / Influence over Resources:
Responsible for gathering accurate customer information and communicating it to the Workshop Development Manager and relevant staff.
Authority for Change:
1. Limited within the service department, requiring approval for significant changes.
2. Proposing improvements to the Workshop Development Manager.
Internal / External Interaction:
1. Contact with the Workshop Development Manager and Damage & Maintenance Administrator.
2. Interaction with team members, customers, and the public.
Person Specification:
Education & Qualifications:
* Full UK driving licence.
* Customer service orientation.
* Clear communication about vehicle work requirements.
* IMI Level 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
Work Experience:
* Team player with a competitive mindset.
* Experience in mobile or workshop environments.
* Experience with various commercial vehicles and multitasking.
