Job Summary
Due to an exciting period of growth, we are now seeking certified Aircraft Fitters to join our Defence manufacturing facilities on the Isle of Wight.
Our Fitters are responsible for carrying out standard activities of their assigned tasks, in full compliance with Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures, prioritizing safety at all times.
Working as part of a close team, effective communication, flexibility, and availability for shift work and overtime are essential.
You will actively identify safety concerns, report problems to your Team Leader, and suggest improvements (Kaizen).
You will contribute to creating a 'Great Place To Work' through continuous improvement, safety, and open dialogue.
You will receive support from your Team Leader for training and coaching.
Job Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities include:
* Working on a range of aircraft main and sub-assemblies, using appropriate assembly techniques, tools, and fixtures, in accordance with technical data and competencies.
* Reading and understanding drawings, processes, and procedures to meet regulatory quality standards and customer specifications, working within sub and final assembly areas. The role involves both Composite and Metallic structures.
* Performing tasks to high standards, in compliance with work instructions, and reporting any safety or quality issues immediately.
* Following all safety, health, and environmental policies and standards.
* Understanding and contributing to team KPIs related to People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cash, and Cost.
* Becoming certified at the Lean Foundation level and implementing at least one Kaizen per month.
* Supporting problem-solving efforts and contributing ideas based on experience.
* Promoting team engagement and embodying the company's culture principles.
* Adhering to all legal and regulatory requirements, including company policies and export controls.
Job Qualifications
Suitable candidates will:
* Be experienced aircraft fitters with 2-4 years of apprenticeship or relevant certification, capable of reading drawings, processes, and procedures, and working within assembly areas to meet quality standards. Experience with both Composite and Metallic structures is required.
* Have a strong sense of pride in work quality.
* Be friendly, collaborative, and a team player.
* Be effective communicators.
* Be safety-conscious.
* Be eligible to work in the UK.

This position requires UK National Security Vetting (UKNSV) Security clearance, which involves residency requirements in the UK.
