Role: SENDCo Location : Totnes with travel around Devon and Cornwall Salary: £35,000 FTE Hours: 37.5 Term Time only plus 4 weeks (some flexibility working from home) Function: ROC College About us United Response is a national charity supporting people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and physical disabilities. ROC College, part of United Response, provides community-based, person-centred education for young people aged 16 to 25 who have Education, Health and Care Plans. We focus on helping learners develop independence, confidence and skills for life. United Response is looking for an experienced and motivated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join our team at ROC College. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping and delivering high-quality education for learners with SEND across Cornwall, Devon, Plymouth and Torbay. About the role As SENCO, you will lead and manage the provision for learners with SEND across all ROC College sites. Your role will involve: Ensuring full compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and other statutory requirements Supporting staff to deliver inclusive, high-quality teaching and learning Coordinating the Education, Health and Care Plan process and statutory reviews Using data and evidence to identify needs and track learner progress Working closely with external agencies, families and local authorities to achieve the best outcomes for our learners Promoting a culture of high expectations, collaboration and continuous improvement This is a non-teaching role with a focus on leadership, planning and support. You will work closely with the Head Teacher and wider team to embed inclusive practices across the college. What we're looking for We are looking for someone with: Qualified SENCO A strong understanding of SEND legislation and EHCP processes Experience of supporting learners with a range of needs, including those with learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills A proactive, organised and collaborative approach Confidence in using data and digital systems to support planning and reporting A full driving licence and willingness to travel between sites when needed It would be an advantage if you have worked in post-16 or specialist education settings, are familiar with Databridge or similar systems, or have experience delivering staff training.
