The Role
:
We’re looking for an experienced Food Maintenance Engineer with boiler and refrigeration expertise to join a busy FMCG site on a 3-month rolling contract. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving critical utility systems, ensuring production runs smoothly and safely.
Day-to-day responsibilities will include:
1. Maintaining and repairing ammonia refrigeration systems, industrial boilers, glycol chillers, cooling towers, and compressed air systems
2. Delivering effective planned and reactive maintenance across plant and utilities
3. Responding to mechanical and electrical breakdowns quickly to support production
4. Completing accurate shift reports, emails, and handovers
5. Ensuring compliance with safety standards, permit-to-work systems, and food safety (HACCP) requirements
6. Identifying and implementing improvements to increase reliability and efficiency
7. Working closely with Engineering, Production, Admin, and Stores teams
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
8. 5+ years’ experience in FMCG or a similar fast-paced manufacturing environment
9. Proven experience with refrigeration (ammonia), boilers, chillers, pumps, and motors
10. Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance skills
11. A recognised qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Refrigeration Engineering
12. HACCP/Food Safety Level 3 (beneficial)
13. Ammonia/BOAS/F-Gas certifications (beneficial)
14. Basic welding/fabrication skills (advantage)
What’s on Offer:
15. Rolling 3-6 month contract
16. 4 on 4 off shift pattern – 12hr days & nights (6–6)
17. Minimum 42 hours per week
18. £35ph – Outside IR35
19. Immediate start available
