Role: Trainee Transport Team Leader & Order Processor
Location: Newcastle
We are looking for a Trainee Transport Team Leader & Order Processor to join our growing Transport and Operations team at our Newcastle Depot.
You will serve as a key point of contact for our Waste Services customers, therefore your passion for delivering excellent customer service is essential. Alongside this, you will support the coordination and development of a team of drivers, helping to ensure our day-to-day logistics operation runs efficiently and safely.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You will be working in a fast-paced environment where strong organisation, communication and decision‑making skills are key to success.
Job Activities:
* Welcome and support customers across multiple communication platforms including telephone, email, live chat and face to face
* Build strong, lasting relationships with customers and deliver excellent service at all times
* Proactively manage high volumes of calls, emails and orders with accuracy and efficiency
* Accurately create, record and schedule orders/services using bespoke IT systems
* Handle customer queries and complaints professionally, ensuring a positive outcome
* Support the daily coordination and planning of drivers across skips, hook and trade waste services
* Promote the company’s services and support business growth
* Ensure compliance with health and safety, tachograph and driver hours regulations
* Assist with driver performance, engagement and development
* Support driver administration including holidays, sickness and wage queries
* Work collaboratively with internal departments including accounts and wider operations
* Contribute to a positive team environment and promote company values
Knowledge and Skills Required:
* Excellent communication skills with a confident and professional manner
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask in a busy environment
* Good IT skills, including Microsoft systems and accurate data input
* Ability to build rapport and maintain strong working relationships
* A proactive and self‑motivated approach
* Strong attention to detail
* Ability to handle challenging situations and problem solve effectively
* Positive attitude and willingness to learn
