About the Role
We are working with a large logistics organisation with a specialist consulting arm, delivering SAP solutions both internally and to external clients. The business is currently undertaking its own SAP S/4HANA Finance implementation while also supporting multiple client environments already live on HANA and S/4HANA.
As Finance Team Leader, you will play a hands-on leadership role across SAP FICO and S/4HANA Finance, combining people leadership, solution ownership, and client-facing delivery. This is not a purely internal role — you will work across a variety of SAP landscapes, supporting internal finance transformation as well as client implementations and enhancements.
The role is remote-based, with occasional travel to Oxford (around 5 times per year) and to client sites when required.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead and develop a small but high-impact Group Finance SAP team.
2. Own and oversee SAP S/4HANA Finance (FICO) solutions, ensuring best-practice design and delivery.
3. Play a key role in the organisation's own S/4HANA Finance implementation, from design through to go-live and optimisation.
4. Deliver client-facing SAP S/4HANA Finance services across multiple environments, including: R2R (Record to Report) P2P (Procure to Pay) O2C (Order to Cash)
5. Act as solution lead for SAP FICO across GL, AP, AR, Asset Accounting, Controlling, and Universal Journal.
6. Work closely with stakeholders across IT, Finance, and the consulting arm to align system design with business needs.
7. Support pre-sales activities, solution design, and client workshops where required.
8. Ensure high-quality delivery across multiple client environments, not tied to a single SAP instance.
9. Mentor and develop team members, promoting S/4HANA capability growth and certification.
10. Ensure compliance with finance controls, audit requirements, and reporting standards.
Required Experience & Skills
11. Strong functional experience in SAP FICO, with S/4HANA Finance as a core requirement.
12. Proven experience working on SAP S/4HANA implementations, upgrades, or brownfield conversions.
13. Solid understanding of end-to-end finance processes, particularly R2R, with exposure to P2P and O2C.
14. Experience working across multiple SAP environments (internal and client-facing).
15. Comfortable operating in a consulting-style delivery model.
16. Demonstrated team leadership or mentoring experience.
17. Ability and willingness to travel to client sites when needed.
18. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Certifications (Essential)
19. SAP FICO Certification (ECC and/or S/4HANA)
20. SAP S/4HANA Finance certification(s) strongly preferred
