The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and executing audits, identifying non-conformances, and driving continuous improvement across engineering, procurement, and construction management functions.

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to join our project delivery team. This role is critical in ensuring that all project activities within the EPCm phase comply with contractual, regulatory, and internal quality requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and executing audits, identifying non-conformances, and driving continuous improvement across engineering, procurement, and construction management functions.

This role is based full time in Teesside


Responsibilities

* To support the Project Quality Manager deliver a professional Quality Management service within resource, programme and budgetary constraints, which satisfies legislative, regulatory, company and customer requirements. The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the specific Quality requirements are identified, implemented and maintained concurrent with the project life cycle and will hold current CSWIP, BGAS or PCN certification. In addition, the Senior Quality Engineer will be responsible for managing the Inspection resource, with regard to availability and location to support specific work packages and off site supply chain activities.
* Support the Project Quality Manager with the promotion of bp NZT/NEP or H2T requirements, expectations, and needs throughout the project team and the supply chain
* Support the Project quality manager implement the approved quality management system.
* Support the project to deliver the works right first time to the specified quality.
* Manage the Inspection resource and be the decision authority when there is a disagreement between the Costain/Customer appointed Inspector and that of the subcontractor or supplier
* Lead or be part of the auditor team for project audits on Costain and the supply chain
* Apply the requirements of the Subcontractor / Supplier Quality Requirements Specification, ensuring the product quality is given the highest priority to achieve Right 1st Time
* Assign Costain Hold, Witness and Review intervention points to subcontractor and supplier Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and manage their implementation, including the review and approval of the related Inspection & Test Reports (ITRs) and other associated Quality Records
* Identify potential failures / symptoms that could lead to non conformances and apply preventive action
* Drive and embed the Quality Surveillance/Right 1st Time Programme within the project team and supply chain
* Control all release of material and equipment from source and site construction activities, ensuring prior close out of non conformances, concession requests etc.


Qualifications

* Minimum 7 years of experience in quality assurance within EPCm project environments.
* Strong technical knowledge of pipelines and associated welding codes like BS 4515 and/or API 1104.
* Technical/Quality Management qualification HNC or Equivalent.
* Professional knowledge of ISO 9001 and other relevant quality standards.
* Experience with quality auditing techniques and tools (e.g., ISO 19011).
* Familiarity with engineering and procurement documentation and workflows.
* Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
* Certification as a Lead Auditor.
* Experience of involvement in achieving mechanical completion on projects, up to pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
* Member of CQI
* Experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or infrastructure projects.
* Previous experience of working as a senior pipeline inspector/engineer.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
* Proficiency in quality management software and Microsoft Office Suit
* Experience of working with and monitoring the right first time (R1T) process from implementation throughout the project lifecycle for compliance and effectiveness.
* Experience of self-verification and oversight (SV&O) responsibilities covering both site and offsite activities to ensure compliance to contractual requirements
