Commercial Operations Manager (Power Instrumentation - Manufacturing)

Glasgow

This role is on a permanent basis and is based at their offices in Glasgow.

Do you have experience driving commercial process improvement, and a background in manufacturing, looking to step into a crucial role for a growing SME, which develops cutting‑edge fibre optic sensing technology, to improve the health and performance of high voltage assets?

Are you looking to join a highly innovative company, which has received significant investment, in an autonomous role which will drive process improvements and efficiency as the company continues to commercialize?

This is an integral role to the business, bridging the gap between Sales, Engineering, and Operations. You will own the customer journey; from the moment an order is received to final commissioning and delivery.


The Company:

We’re working with an innovative leader in power systems monitoring. They deliver advanced solutions that allow grid operators and offshore wind developers to protect and manage high‑voltage infrastructure, with unprecedented speed and efficacy. With a focus on global growth, particularly in the Middle East and India, they have transitioned from an R&D start‑up to a successful SME, with the support of two leading international engineering organisations.


The Role:

* Owning the Customer Journey: Orchestrating every function (Sales, Engineering, Ops) to ensure orders are delivered, commissioned, and accepted on time.
* Driving Sales Discipline: Owning the CRM (Pipedrive) and pipeline reporting to ensure the leadership team has a single source of truth for forecasting.
* Bid & Proposal Governance: Managing the go/no‑go process for tenders and ensuring all outgoing proposals are commercially sound and technically accurate.
* Commercial Guardrails: Acting as the first line of governance for pricing and margins, catching risks before they reach the customer.
* Management: Direct line management of two Sales Engineers.
* Accountability: Holding peers accountable to delivery standards, ensuring critical deadlines and customer commitments are never missed.


The Individual:

* Experience in Commercial or Sales Operations – A background in bid management, project coordination, or commercial operations within a technical B2B or manufacturing environment.
* Outcome focused – ability to drive speed and efficiency across departments to maintain commercial momentum.
* Proficiency in CRM systems and data tools to bring structure to a fast‑paced environment.
