This role offers an exciting opportunity to join HMRC's Internal Investigations team. You'll bring your existing experience in investigations, intelligence analysis, or anti-corruption work to a team that plays a vital role in protecting HMRC's reputation and values.
Our work involves investigating serious allegations involving staff, identifying risks such as internal fraud and corruption, and handling sensitive intelligence and whistle-blowing concerns. You'll collaborate with experts across Government and UK Law Enforcement, contributing to cases that uphold the highest standards of professionalism and accountability.

Key Responsibilities
* Gather, assess, and analyse intelligence from internal and external sources, using a combination of desk-based activity alongside proactive intelligence gathering techniques including foot and static surveillance
* Identify intelligence gaps and develop actionable insights to support investigations
* Collaborate with operational teams and stakeholders to deliver intelligence products
* Support criminal investigations, including preparing material for legal proceedings and potentially appearing in court
* Operate within legal frameworks such as RIPA, CPIA, PACE, and POCA
* Handle sensitive information, whistle-blowing concerns, and serious complaints with discretion and professionalism
* Represent HMRC in engagements with law enforcement and government partners
As an Intelligence Officer, you'll play a key role in identifying and managing risks related to internal fraud, bribery, and corruption. You'll develop high-quality intelligence packages using a range of techniques and data sources.
Successful applicants will join either an Intelligence Team or Anti-Corruption Investigation Team. You will be asked to indicate a preference on your application form however we cannot guarantee you will be offered your preference. We will place candidates in Intelligence or Investigation roles according to skills and experience.
