Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant
Annual Salary: £25,989 pro rata (Grade 6, Wiltshire Council)
Contract Type: Fixed-Term Maternity Cover until 31st August 2026
Hours: Part Time, 11.5 hours per week.
Additional role info: Thursday & Friday 8:30am to 2:45pm
Start Date: 3 November 2025
About the role
We are looking for a Named Pupil Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 pupil with an EHCP whose main difficulties are communication based. The role will involve supporting the pupil to access whole class learning, facilitate group work and work with the pupil individually to meet EHCP targets. We are looking for someone creative and passionate about enabling all children to reach their full potential to join the team. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO.

You will:
•have an understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities and how a teaching assistant supports students in their learning.
•be able to engage students and manage behaviour on a one to one or small group basis.
•be committed to undertake relevant qualifications, e.g. relevant NVQ Level 2/ 3 in supporting teaching and learning or equivalent, first aid qualification etc. to ensure ongoing professional development.
•be able to engage students and manage behaviour on a one to one or small group basis.
•have strong interpersonal skills, in particular with the ability to demonstrate empathy and active listening.
•have good planning and organisational skills, specifically with regard to learning activities and support materials.
•be someone with a keen interest in working with children and commitment to inclusion and acceptance of all.
