Canterbury Cathedral is the cathedral of the archbishop of Canterbury, the leader of the Church of England and symbolic leader of the worldwide Anglican Communion. Located in Canterbury, Kent, it is one of the oldest Christian structures in England and forms part of a World Heritage Site.
The Role
Canterbury Cathedral seeks to appoint a Chorister Welfare Lead to oversee the wellbeing and safeguarding of the Cathedrals Choristers. The post holder will work closely with the Director of Music to ensure consistently high standards of pastoral care for children in the Choir. This new post offers an opportunity for the right candidate to contribute in an essential way to the exciting and high-level musical and educational life of the Cathedral.
What you'll be doing
* Overview of pastoral care and safeguarding of all Choristers, in collaboration with the Director of Music;
* Communication with parents/guardians, should there be any pastoral concerns;
* Chaperone Boy Chorister rehearsals/services on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, and manage handovers with parents at beginnings and ends of rehearsals/services;
* Attend weekly Chorister Welfare Meetings, currently at 11am to 1pm on Mondays during school term time, attend termly Chaperone meetings, attend other relevant meetings as required, and carry out related administrative tasks
