Governor – Senior Manager
Hours: The time commitment is about 1.5 days per month.
We currently have a vacancy for an individual able to provide vision and strategic leadership to the College as a member of its Board of Governors. We are looking for someone currently serving in, or with experience of having served in a Senior Managerial role in the Castleford, Wakefield or Selby districts to contribute their skills and experience to our Group to help us achieve our vision: “To be an outstanding, first-choice education group, passionately serving all of our communities.”
While we are looking for a person with experience at a Senior Manager level to fill our current vacancy, we would also welcome applications from anyone who thinks they could make a positive contribution to our Board which we will retain should a suitable future vacancy arise.
Role
Being a Governor is a voluntary role, unpaid but highly rewarding, and this is a particularly exciting time to be involved with the College. We have a challenging agenda including:
* Further improving the quality of teaching and learning at the College, with the aim of giving our students better outcomes, be that in continuing their education at the College or at university, or in gaining employment.
* Understanding the needs of employers, to help local businesses grow and contribute to economic prosperity in our districts.
* Forming strategic partnerships within our districts to help shape key initiatives.
* Forming strong relationships with our districts’ schools and, where appropriate, work with them in the provision of education.
* Developing sustainability within the College and our communities.
