Job summary Are you a motivated Theatre Practitioner (Registered Nurse or ODP) looking to develop your skills within a busy perioperative environment? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Theatre Practitioner to join Main Theatres at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton. Main Theatres is a busy 24/7 nine-theatre department delivering specialist services across Trauma, ENT & Head & Neck, Vascular, Digestive Diseases, Gynaecology, CEPOD and Obstetrics, and forms part of the Major Trauma Centre for the region. You will support the delivery of safe, high-quality perioperative care, working closely with surgical and anaesthetic teams across a wide range of elective and emergency procedures. Opportunities are available across both scrub and anaesthetic roles, with experience in both areas considered desirable. The role also involves supporting learners and new staff, including student nurses and student ODPs, helping to maintain a positive learning culture within the department. Newly qualified Nurses and ODPs will be supported through a structured 12-month preceptorship programme, alongside wider CPD opportunities to support ongoing professional development. This is an excellent opportunity to develop perioperative skills within a supportive multidisciplinary team and gain experience within a Major Trauma Centre environment. Main duties of the job You will work as part of the multidisciplinary theatre team, supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality perioperative care across the department while promoting effective teamwork and communication.
