Purpose of the role:
1. Manage all costs in relation to infrastructure projects with experience of identifying commercial risks and opportunities in respect of their works
2. Provide support to senior members of team in delivering varied commercial duties including responsibility for procuring and managing supply chain
3. Optimise commercial performance through diligent cost control and value for money opportunities, whilst achieving the required standards and quality for our customers
4. Assist with commercial relationships to both internal and external stakeholders
5. Provide support and adherence for the Gated Business Lifecycle process.
What you'll be doing
As a Quantity Surveyor you will:
6. Collation of cost and value information
7. Measurement of works and agreements with subcontractors
8. Measure, record & value work unsupervised in accordance with appropriate rules and procedures
9. Measure & interpret specifications & drawings
10. Build up estimates from first principle including net and gross estimates
11. Translate measurement from drawings and Specifications and prepare Bills of Quantities and Schedules of rates
12. Review weekly, monthly, section programmes of works and understanding of delay and disruption programmes
13. Plan commercial activities to meet requirements of section programmes
14. Preparation of Cost reconciliation statements
15. Collect information required to specify procurement requirements
Who we're looking for
The following qualifications or equivalent are essential:
16. BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience
The following qualities/experience are desirable:
17. An organised, innovative and creative Quantity Surveyor with experience of working on Projects
18. Previous experience of managing costs and maximising value
19. Experience of financial and commercial control within a project
20. Experience of procuring and managing supply chain
21. Experience of working as part of commercial teams
22. Supports the development of others
23. Membership of RICS or ICES or working towards this accreditation
24. Proven record of working to deadlines, working efficiently and to a high standard
25. Experience of infrastructure projects with resilience and determination to succeed
