Director – Water Environment Location: Glasgow or Perth (Relocation support available) Contract: Full-time | Permanent Salary: £65,000 – £80,000 (depending on experience) About the Opportunity An established and forward-thinking environmental consultancy is seeking an experienced leader to head up its Water Environment division, currently made up of 7 skilled professionals across Glasgow and Perth offices. This is a rare opportunity to step into a Director-level role that blends hands-on technical work with leadership, strategic direction, and business growth in a dynamic, supportive environment. Your Role As Director of Water Environment, you will lead and shape a multidisciplinary team working across flood risk, surface water drainage, and peatland hydrology. You'll be instrumental in setting the team’s direction, maintaining delivery excellence, and driving growth. What You’ll Be Doing Leading and mentoring a team of water specialists, ensuring technical excellence and effective project delivery Overseeing client relationships, financial performance, and operational planning Playing an active role in business development, proposals, and strategic partnerships Supporting cross-discipline collaboration with other senior leaders Providing technical input on complex or high-profile projects Embedding a strong culture of quality, innovation, and inclusive leadership Representing the company externally with confidence and professionalism About You 10 years’ experience in environmental consultancy, with expertise in flood risk, drainage, or peatland restoration Chartered with a relevant professional body (e.g., CIWEM, ICE, IEMA) Deep understanding of UK environmental legislation, policy, and planning frameworks Track record of leading teams and delivering successful client outcomes Experience working on major infrastructure, DCOs, or nationally significant projects A collaborative, clear communicator with a proactive leadership style What’s On Offer £65,000 – £80,000 salary (depending on experience) 25 days holiday bank holidays (with additional days based on service) Flexible working hours and hybrid options Generous CPD budget (20 days per year) and funded professional memberships Relocation support available for the right candidate How to Apply To express interest or request more details confidentially, please send your CV and a brief cover letter to: connor.sandison@edenscott.com
