Our Professional & Financial Risks team ("PFR") is seeking an Associate to join in Bristol. The PFR team is part of the firm's Insurance group, with a well-established client base, acting for most Professional Indemnity Insurers and their insureds. The team handles a variety of claims against professionals such as solicitors, insurance brokers, accountants, and financial advisers. The role involves defending liability claims pre- and post-litigation, and providing advice on related matters like regulatory issues, risk management, and Ombudsman complaints. The team also advises insurers on policy coverage aspects of claims and acts for large professional services firms. Recognized for excellence in Professional Negligence by Chambers & Partners and Legal 500.
The Role
The successful candidate will work alongside partners and lawyers in a vibrant, growing team. The work is varied, interesting, and challenging, with autonomy. Responsibilities include:
1. Managing a caseload of Professional Indemnity claims, including coverage issues.
2. Delivering high-quality, timely client service aligned with working practices and SLAs.
3. Contributing to the team's service, support, processes, and procedures improvement.
4. Demonstrating team values and maintaining a client-focused approach.
5. Capturing and collating Management Information according to practice standards.
Requirements include:
* 0-4 years PQE or relevant experience.
* Strong litigation background; insurance experience is a plus but not essential.
* Ability to deliver legal and commercial solutions, fostering collaborative relationships.
* Commitment to business development and network growth.
* Efficient, commercially aware, and understanding of financial hygiene.
* Team-oriented, supportive, and inclusive attitude.
* Good knowledge of legal procedures and Microsoft Office.
* Excellent communication skills, adaptability, initiative, and problem-solving abilities.
