Leonardo UK Ltd is seeking a Trade Compliance Manager to work within its Trade Compliance Function to support the management of all aspects of UK Export Control and Compliance and, as required, the export regulations of other countries, such as the US, as they relate to Leonardo’s business operations in the UK.
As Trade Compliance Manager, you will provide a business support service including advice and guidance to Leonardo UK’s Integrated Sensing & Protection (LoB) and functions to ensure compliance with UK and other relevant trade control laws and regulations.
Reporting to the Head of Trade Compliance – Electronics Division, you will work closely with Project teams within the IS&P LoB and related functions to provide support and guidance on International Trade Compliance matters, ensuring adherence to UK, EU, US, and other Export Control laws and regulations (“Trade Control regulations”). The role involves liaising with LoB management and project teams to ensure compliance with Leonardo directives, policies, and processes.
The role will involve some national and possibly international travel.

Key Accountabilities/Areas of Responsibility
1. Provide expert advice and guidance on compliance with UK and foreign import/export laws, including US EAR and ITAR, and internal policies.
2. Support Business Winning efforts by considering trade compliance early, managing export licensing, and creating compliance plans throughout project lifecycles.
3. Ensure Commodity List Classification (CLC), Export Control Ratings, and Customs classifications are in place to support compliance.
4. Work with project teams to manage export controls for equipment and technology, ensuring proper licensing and authorizations.
5. Deliver export control and trade compliance training to relevant teams.
6. Manage the site Import/Export Control team to ensure full compliance with licenses, HMRC regulations, and UK and foreign authorizations, including preparing applications like MOD F680.
7. Conduct internal trade compliance assessments and prepare reports, including draft Voluntary Disclosures for approval.
8. Support internal and external audits related to export control and trade compliance.
Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge
1. Experienced in export control and trade compliance, with detailed knowledge of UK Export Licensing, EU and US regulations (ITAR, EAR), and UK/EU Customs.
2. Strong interpersonal and influencing skills to support decision-making based on international trade knowledge.
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with SAP ERP systems.
4. Excellent meeting management skills.
5. Understanding of trade compliance issues in aerospace, defense, and security sectors.
