Description
The opportunity has arisen to recruit a Tax Accountant, based in the central Finance team in the EPUKI Leeds office.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the high quality and timely preparation of returns and tax-related reporting, covering different legal entities with a wide-ranging degree of complexity. They will work closely with the Finance team, support other areas of the business such as Corporate Finance and Procurement, and liaise with EPH Tax colleagues based in Prague.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Tax Manager, the key duties and responsibilities will be:
* Preparation of VAT returns for all UK and Irish businesses.
* Preparation of CIS returns, CIS verifications, CIS deduction statements and RCT returns.
* Preparation of landfill tax and PSA returns.
* Preparation of corporation tax packs and returns.
* Identifying opportunities across a variety of areas to maximise value to the business, for example VAT recovery on pension invoices.
* Preparation of Senior Accounting Office requirements, liaising closely with the Finance Director.
* Proactive involvement in tax system and process improvement projects.
* Supporting on budget and forecast uploads, cashflow forecasting, and completion of group submission as required including responding to queries from EPH.
* Overseeing and tracking external submissions in an accurate and timely manner, including ONS surveys, climate change levy, landfill tax, ensuring these are completed accurately.
* Working closely with Transactions team to ensure processes are tax compliant (e.g. with CIS returns), and identifying cross-team opportunities to maximise efficiency across the Finance function, and across the business where possible.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Background
* Experience in a tax-focussed role, either in practice or industry - essential.
* Good understanding of UK taxation - essential.
* Basic knowledge and application of accounting standards - essential.
* Experience of working in an energy, manufacturing or production focussed environment - desirable.
* SAP system knowledge - desirable.

Qualifications
