Assistant Underwriter - Intellectual Property

As an Assistant Underwriter, you’ll play a key role in supporting our Intellectual Property team across all aspects of underwriting. This will include handling new business and renewals, responding to broker queries, and gradually building your own broker relationships to support business development.
About the role
You’ll be exposed to a wide range of intellectual property risks, spanning multiple territories and business sectors. The role will require curiosity to understand complex and evolving risks, as well as strong organisational skills to manage and prioritise effectively.
* Respond to and manage enquiries from brokers in a timely and professional manner, producing new and renewal quotations within agreed SLAs and authority parameters.
* Maintain and update the IP renewal and prospect list in a timely manner.
* Support the team to develop and seek out new business opportunities, building strong broker relationships (both face to face and over phone) to create profitable IP business.
* Maintain and produce regular underwriting reports around the portfolio as required.
* Explain the features, advantages and benefits of IP insurance products, coverage enhancements, support product launches and raise awareness of new and existing products.
* Assist with the preparation and delivery of internal and external events and presentations on CFC products, key trends and emerging exposures.
About you
General insurance knowledge is essential, either from an underwriting or broking background. Along with an interest in developing your understanding and expertise within intellectual property. In return, you’ll be supported by a collaborative, experienced team who will help you build your underwriting capabilities and develop your career.
You’re motivated, determined, and eager to succeed. With strong analytical ability, logical thinking and critical problem‑solving skills, paired with excellent numeracy and clear and confident communication.
Confident and self‑driven, you enjoy working to deadlines and achieving results. You’re comfortable using MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and above all, you thrive in a team environment where collaboration leads to shared success.
