Role: Junior Group Reporting Accountant
Location: Hybrid - 2/3 Days per week in either Perth or Glasgow, Scotland
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 18 Months + Possible Extension
Rates: £275 Daily Rate Inside IR35 via Umbrella

Main Purpose of JOB
This role is a key member of the team responsible for the preparation of the Client's listed group Annual Report and Accounts ("ARA") and Interim Results Statement. The Group Statutory Reporting Accountant will work primarily on specific accounting areas for the group financial statements, including note preparation for the accounts, and work to enhance documentation and controls.
The role involves working to tight deadlines to meet reporting deadlines. The role requires regular liaison with the Client's Business Units and the external auditor and is responsible for the preparation and audit requirements of elements of the Group accounts and additionally certain subsidiary statutory accounts.
The role reports to the Statutory Reporting Manager and involves working closely with the Director of Group Reporting and other senior Finance contacts. To do this effectively, you will need an understanding of the Client's markets and operations, IFRS and other relevant GAAP.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential Job Specific Skills and Experiences
* Fully qualified Accountant with up to 3+ years Post Qualified Experience in a Financial Reporting or External Audit role, ideally with plc or relevant industry experience
* Experience of listed plc reporting and corporate governance requirements would be advantageous.
* Fully up to date knowledge of accounting standards and corporate governance requirements
* Interpretative and analytical skills to assimilate complex issues into reporting and accounting solutions.
* Continuous improvement approach focusing on process efficiency.
* Able to manage numerous complex tasks simultaneously.
* Ability to manage competing deadlines and deliverables, and
* Personal resilience and drive are essential.
Functional and Technical Skills
* Chartered Accountant or equivalent
* Proficient in MS Office applications
* Previous knowledge of Thomson-Reuters OneSource would be advantageous.
* Highly developed analytical skills, and
* Knowledge of statutory reporting and consolidation systems, processes, and workflow

Key Accountabilities
1. Group Financial Statements
Prepare the disclosure and supporting information for key notes within the consolidated financial statements of the Client group in accordance with the ARA, Preliminary Results and Interim Results timetables.
2. Subsidiary Accounts
Prepare subsidiary financial statements and manage the audit for certain corporate and holding entities.
Become a super-user for the Group's accounts production software (Thomson-Reuters OneSource) and provide support to divisional business users preparing their subsidiary financial statements.
3. Accounting Projects
Support the Statutory Reporting Team and Technical Reporting Manager on financial reporting projects, such as the adoption of new accounting standards, group investment and divestment activities and replacement of the consolidation reporting tool.
4. Control & Compliance
Assist in implementation of 'UK SOX' requirements for financial statements process. Ensure compliance with all applicable standards, legislation and code.
