Communications engagement coordinator

Huntingdon
Huntingdonshire District Council
Coordinator
Posted: 1 November
Offer description

Overview

Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC) is passionate about providing high-quality services to our communities, residents and businesses. This means we must employ and retain the most talented and dedicated people. Situated within the heart of the Cambridge-Peterborough Growth Area, Huntingdonshire is a beautiful district that boasts thriving market towns and many attractive villages, each with its own identity. We are an innovative and forward-thinking local authority whose residents are at the heart of our decision-making. At HDC we want to employ staff who embody our icare values (Inspiring, Collaborative, Accountable, Respectful, Enterprising), all of which support our ultimate purpose of putting our customers first.

Responsibilities

* 18 month fixed term contract.
* Support the delivery of the council’s communications and community engagement activity as part of the Communications, Engagement and Public Affairs team.
* Coordinate day-to-day engagement projects, support public consultations and events, and maintain online engagement platforms and websites.
* Draft clear and accessible content and liaise with residents and community groups to ensure people across Huntingdonshire have their say in shaping council services.
* Develop skills in communications and engagement within a supportive team environment and gain experience across communications and engagement with a view to delivering tangible benefits to local communities.

About you

You will be someone with a passion for communication and an interest in community engagement. Organised and proactive, you are comfortable balancing different tasks and deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail. With clear written and verbal communication skills, you can produce content that is engaging and easy to understand.

You will also be confident using digital tools and able to support updates to websites and online engagement platforms. You enjoy working with people—whether that’s supporting residents at an event, collaborating with colleagues on a project, or building relationships with community groups. Adaptable and a strong team player, you’re ready to get involved in a wide range of activities.

While previous experience in a communications, engagement, or customer-facing role would be an advantage, more important is your enthusiasm, willingness to learn, and commitment to delivering excellent service to our residents.
