Responsibilities
* 18 month fixed term contract.
* Support the delivery of the council’s communications and community engagement activity as part of the Communications, Engagement and Public Affairs team.
* Coordinate day-to-day engagement projects, support public consultations and events, and maintain online engagement platforms and websites.
* Draft clear and accessible content and liaise with residents and community groups to ensure people across Huntingdonshire have their say in shaping council services.
* Develop skills in communications and engagement within a supportive team environment and gain experience across communications and engagement with a view to delivering tangible benefits to local communities.
About you
You will be someone with a passion for communication and an interest in community engagement. Organised and proactive, you are comfortable balancing different tasks and deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail. With clear written and verbal communication skills, you can produce content that is engaging and easy to understand.
You will also be confident using digital tools and able to support updates to websites and online engagement platforms. You enjoy working with people—whether that’s supporting residents at an event, collaborating with colleagues on a project, or building relationships with community groups. Adaptable and a strong team player, you’re ready to get involved in a wide range of activities.
While previous experience in a communications, engagement, or customer-facing role would be an advantage, more important is your enthusiasm, willingness to learn, and commitment to delivering excellent service to our residents.

An offer of employment is conditional upon having the right to work in the UK. HDC does not hold a Sponsorship Licence and is unable to provide a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) or take over sponsorship for any role.

Work model: Where possible, we accommodate a hybrid model of working. Our hybrid work model enables employees to work remotely while allowing for in-office collaboration opportunities across the district. Candidates should be within commutable distance of our offices in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire or be able to attend meetings if further afield.
