Overview
Commercial Finance Manager – Permanent – Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder reports to the Head of Financial Management and Planning and will provide a high quality financial management service to the Division of Genomic Medicine. The role ensures efficiency, effectiveness, integrity and a business focus, supporting the Trust’s Efficiency and Productivity programme without impacting patient care. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to new developments in health care and broaden professional exposure in the sector.
Responsibilities
* Provide a high quality financial management service to the Division of Genomic Medicine.
* Ensure efficiency, effectiveness, integrity and a suitable business focus, supporting the Trust’s Efficiency and Productivity programme.
* Model, forecast, present and analyse financial data.
* Engage regularly with internal and external stakeholders, including partner Trusts and commissioning organisations.
* Negotiate and influence to achieve financial objectives.
Qualifications & Experience
* Undergraduate degree and postgraduate qualification or equivalent, or postgraduate qualification in accountancy (CCAB/CIMA).
* Significant experience in financial management within an NHS setting, in a senior finance role.
* Expert knowledge of financial and accounting procedures, NHS finance policies, IFRS, tax legislation and financial reporting.
* Proven ability to analyse complex problems, make logical judgments regarding financial allocation and risk, and advise senior budget holders.
* Strong negotiation, influencing, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non‑finance audiences.
* Expertise in advanced financial modelling using spreadsheets and databases, with MS Office proficiency.
* Experience managing a finance team, including recruitment, development, appraisal, performance and disciplinary issues.
* Ability to work flexibly and independently in a complex financial environment, managing unpredictable workloads.
* Commitment to ongoing professional and personal development.
Additional Requirements
* Knowledge of NHS finance legislation and policies, including current IFRS and tax legislation.
* Experience developing and monitoring budgets for external departments, services or programmes.
* Ability to set and achieve realistic objectives within set timescales.
