Wood Digital Consulting (DC) is seeking a Service Engineer to join the team in Northampton. The successful engineer will be responsible for providing after sales / service support to Wood Systems customers from commencement of warranty to end of service life. Ensuring that service/support is provided in accordance with business and customer expectations. To commission, support and service Systems projects on our customers’ sites including mechanical, electrical, pneumatics and software – PLC and Robots and assist the Engineering, Controls and Project Managers.
Must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.
Responsibilities / Duties
1. Machine build, assembly and development to ATG’s standards
2. Technical and people management skills when dealing with the customer, subcontractors and internal Engineers and site installation
3. Be self-motivated and exhibit a “can do” attitude
4. Understanding of client service delivery methodology and act as the first line of customer contact and the owner of customer relationships for in-field installation
5. Flexibility to support customers and when necessary attend customer sites at short notice and out of normal working hours when required
6. Maintain accurate records of mechanical changes and write up change logs
7. Plumbing of pneumatic valves, pipework and required labelling
8. Utilise ATG machine tools and workshop facilities to aid development
9. Keep a tidy work place for quality and H & S requirements
10. Communicate development issues to Engineering and Project Managers
11. Develop and coach juniors and Academy Apprentices on occasions, if required
12. To maintain and improve upon personal skills related to the position, through experience and training
13. To comply with the company policy as defined in the Staff Handbook, Safety Manual, and Quality Assurance Manual and Wood Group ethics policy
14. Site work, servicing and commissioning when required in UK and abroad
15. Minimum of Time served apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering and BTEC / City and Guilds
16. Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings
17. Mechanical fitting skills
18. Ability to read and understand electrical and pneumatic controls drawings
19. Ability to wire and pipe to drawing
20. PLC – interrogation and modification experience
21. Good knowledge of Special Purpose Machinery from basic conveying equipment to more complex precision tooling and handling systems
22. Good diagnostic skills and logical fault finding ability
