We have a part-time Band 7 post (or Band 6 developmental post) within our Parkinson's Day Unit at Edgware Community Hospital in Barnet and are looking for a skilled, motivated and enthusiastic Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist ( Neurology)
The Parkinson's service offers variety and opportunity to develop the range of your clinical and supervisory skills in the treatment and management of Parkinson's, as well as joint working with a range of medical and therapy professionals in a purpose built unit; there are also opportunities to contribute to service development.

Job responsibilities
6. To provide a highly specialist Parkinsons disease Occupational Therapy Service as part of of Parkinsons Multi-disciplinary Team.
7. Work autonomously and in collaboration with the specialist Parkinsons other health care professionals, statutory and voluntary agencies, and HCC to deliver excellent standards of patient care.
8. Take a lead for occupational therapy in the rehab program of People with Parkinsons Disease.
9. Assess and treat own caseload of clients who have a diagnosis of Idiopathic Parkinsons/Parkinsons Syndrome and may have a complex presentation.

Qualifications
Essential
10. Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
11. Current AHP with UK HCPC registration
12. Post-graduate training in Approaches to Rehabilitation/Cognitive rehabilitation/Neurological rehabilitation or equivalent.
Desirable
13. Masters level study
Experience
Essential
14. A minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience with a minimum of 2 years in working in Neuro Parkinson's disease /rehabilitation and Community services
15. Experience in working with people with complex health and social issues
16. Experience in working collaboratively across agencies in planning care for people
17. Experience in assessing for assistive technology including wheelchairs and ADL equipment
18. Experience in planning complex discharges, co-ordinating services and resources
19. Experience in working with adults in their own home
20. Experience of supervising/managing junior and assistant staff
Desirable
21. Rotational experience at Band 5 or Band 6 level in acute trusts and community services

22. Advanced skills in the assessment and treatment of people with Parkinson's Disease and neurological conditions complex multi-pathologies
23. Advanced knowledge and understanding of the national guidelines for Parkison's Disease rehabilitation, NSFs for Older People and Long Term Conditions and relevant NICE guidelines
24. Able to lead a team
25. Able to appraise staff
26. Knowledge of philosophy and key issues within the profession
27. Actively promotes OT services
28. Skills in managing complex cases and advising other staff on management
29. Ability to work as part of a team
