Department The School for Business and Society are recruiting for a Research Trainee to work with an experienced project team on an NIHR funded research project entitled: “Improving policy and practice to promote and protect the emotional well-being of Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Young People leaving care in England”. The research combines desk based and qualitative interviewing methods as well as the creation of online resources to assist policy makers and practitioners. The Research Trainee will work closely with the research team and receive appropriate training and development opportunities. The research trainee will have specific responsibility for developing and leading an ‘experts-by experience panel’ that supports the research in addition to supporting the research team in wider project activities. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who have lived experience of seeking refuge (in the UK or elsewhere) and/ or candidates who are care-experienced. This role may involve direct work with children and therefore the successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check prior to appointment. Role To provide support to the research project, undertaking research work within the overall programme and assisting with the day to day operation of the project With the guidance of the project supervisor, to undertake a combination of literature searches,desk based research, interviews and other research activity. To consider the public engagement and impact of the project and take appropriate steps to maximise these with the support of the research leader. To lead (with support) an experts-by- experience panel that advises the project. Skills, Experience & Qualification needed Undergraduate degree in a Social Science discipline (eg.
