What skills and experience we're looking for
For Holy Trinity C of E Primary School, we are looking to appoint an exceptional candidate who is a dedicated, professional, and personable individual with a can-do attitude. They must have previous experience working in catering and a good knowledge of food hygiene and preparation. A Level 2 award in Food Safety in Catering or equivalent is required for the role.
KEY DUTIES
Operational
1. Undertake skilled cooking activities related to the full range of menu provision, including meal planning, portion control, and catering for special dietary needs.
2. Oversee the preparation of healthy, nutritionally balanced menus that meet government standards for school lunches.
3. Supervise the preparation of ingredients for meals.
4. Organise and supervise food service, which may include transportation of meals.
5. Present nutritious foods attractively to children.
6. Include hospitality catering for Head Office functions.
Maintenance of hygiene
Ensure catering practices comply with health and safety legislation.
Administration
1. Supervise the purchase and storage of food, ensuring statutory compliance.
2. Manage invoices and budget effectively, demonstrating good financial knowledge.
3. Have computer literacy, including knowledge of Microsoft Teams, calendar, and email.
Resources
1. Promote the school meals service to increase awareness of healthy eating.
2. Order, record ingredients, and conduct stock takes.
3. Create and maintain an orderly and productive working environment.
4. Maintain records as required.
5. Plan menus following nutrition and healthy eating guidelines.
6. Ensure staff have access to necessary equipment and supplies.
7. Monitor and manage supplies within the budget, conducting audits as needed.
8. Refill and replace consumables.
9. Report faulty equipment and maintenance issues.
10. Maintain the security of the school premises and kitchen.
11. Ensure lights and equipment are switched off when not in use.
12. Supervise and direct staff, including duty allocation and rotas.
