Band 5 Staff Nurse – Davenport Ward
Service/Ward/Department Summary:
We are looking for a experienced mental health nurse with a passion and interest in older age mental health. Experience is required in order to support our junior newly qualified staff on the ward.
Davenport Ward is a 20 bedded female functional ward at The Meadows in Offerton, Stockport. We deliver outstanding care to people who are living with a functional mental illness who are admitted for an assessment of their needs. We will then work with the families and carers on a discharge pathway that supports both the people living with their mental illness and their families and carers. Davenport Ward is a challenging and rewarding environment and we aim to offer the best care we can provide to both the people living with dementia and those that support them. We are supported by a full multidisciplinary team of Consultant Psychiatrists, Mental Health Nurses, Psychology, occupational therapy and social workers
Main duties of the job
Role Summary:
As a qualified nurse you would be a vital member of the team in delivering person centred care to those admitted onto the ward. You will be working with people who can be very distressed and display some very challenging behaviours. It will be your responsibility to provide reassurance and distraction, using care and compassion, for the people living with dementia. You will also be responsible for a wide range of tasks such as care planning and implementation, risk assessment, physical health assessment, liaising with the wider MDT, ward rounds and you will be a named nurse.

* First level registered nurse, RMN or RN in Mental Health
* Must have a good understanding of both innumeracy and language skills.

* Qualification in psychosocial interventions an advantage
