Job overview
To provide clinical expertise in the treatment of MSK foot problems and in the education and supervision of less experienced members of the Podiatry team.
To develop and deliver a high-quality seamless MSK foot service within the community working with other senior B7 leads to embed excellent care and to provide managerial support to the Head of Podiatry.
Introduction to the Department
Enfield Community Podiatry Services is a modern, forward-thinking department offering a wide range of advanced therapeutic treatments. We seek a senior podiatrist with excellent skills to join our supportive clinical team. We are part of North Mid in the Community, with close links to diabetes and orthopaedic departments within North Middlesex Hospital, and the Royal Free Hospital Pond Street, Barnet, and Chase Farm Sites.
Main duties of the job
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
* Perform comprehensive MSK podiatric assessments of adults and children with diverse presentations and complex conditions. Provide diagnoses and develop treatment plans.
* Manage own caseload autonomously as a clinical expert.
* Triages all service referrals to determine appropriate treatment or onward referral.
Additional responsibilities include line management duties, recruitment, service reviews, and acting as deputy support to the Head of Podiatry.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Clinical
* Accountable for all aspects of own work, including patient management.
* Conduct biomechanical and gait assessments, formulate diagnoses, and develop treatment programs including advanced options like injections, strapping, manipulation, and acupuncture.
* Evaluate treatment outcomes and facilitate patient discharge or referral.
* Work within legal and ethical frameworks, including work with patients lacking capacity.
* Communicate effectively with patients and carers, including those with communication difficulties.
* Prescribe, modify, and fit orthoses/insoles as needed.
* Manage clinical risks and maintain accurate records in line with standards.
* Supervise and mentor junior staff and ensure stock and equipment are maintained properly.
* Participate in training, meetings, and service development initiatives.
Professional & Managerial
* Undertake HR duties such as recruitment and staff reviews.
* Maintain and develop MSK expertise through CPD and training.
* Provide supervision and training to junior staff and assistants.
* Participate in appraisals, audits, and evidence-based practice projects.
* Engage in professional networking and service improvement initiatives.
Person specification
Educational/Qualification
* Degree in Podiatry with LA certificate
* Evidence of ongoing CPD, particularly in MSK and injection therapy.
