We are looking for graduates for our Roads team who have a flexible approach and an appetite to learn in a leading engineering and professional advisory services consultancy. Locations – Roads Infrastructure Design: Truro, Exeter, Bristol, Cardiff, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Cambridge, Basingstoke, Guildford or London.
We design and deliver roads projects across the UK and Ireland, combining roads design, technical assurance, and integrated behaviours to drive excellence in multi-disciplinary projects and national frameworks.
Responsibilities
* As a Graduate Engineer in the Roads team, help deliver National and Regional Infrastructure Frameworks to major projects and local improvements, including active travel schemes for walking and cycling.
* Collaborate with clients on local and national projects across stages of infrastructure delivery.
* Support design and build contracts with construction contractors and provide technical support to other parts of the WSP business.
* Contribute to the development and delivery of sustainable design solutions supporting WSP’s “Future Ready” initiative and Net Zero objectives.
Projects
Our teams work on high-profile projects such as HS2, Sizewell C, Smart Motorways, Dublin MetroLink, NM20 Cork to Limerick, and A5 Western Transport Corridor.
Roads Infrastructure Design
Graduate Engineers develop design skills on national transportation schemes, active travel schemes, public transport and rail interface projects, and Local Authority major/minor schemes. We offer design and build contracts and provide technical support across the WSP business.
Day-to-day activities could include:
* Designing and drafting transport solutions
* Attending site visits and inspections
* Data analysis and reporting
* Project coordination
* Stakeholder communication
* Assisting Senior Engineers
Graduate Development Programme
Our two-year Graduate Development programme supports personal and professional development through blended learning, core business and professional skills training, career development workshops, networking opportunities, mentoring for professional registration, and on-the-job experience. We encourage progression toward chartered status with relevant professional bodies (e.g., ICE) and provide support through enrollment in training agreements.
What Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate
You should have graduated with at least a 2:1 in a master’s or bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject for the role. To explore relevant areas of the business, please visit the Graduate brochure or Graduate website.
* Candidates must complete the application form in full and answer all specific questions. Successful completion of this stage is mandatory. If you pass, you will complete an online skill enabler assessment. Both are essential parts of the early careers recruitment process.
