Are you a qualified or newly qualified Dental Nurse? This role offers the opportunity to work with Dentists at the top of their game in the NHS, in a role that supports patients in emergency or with vulnerable groups, and to enhance your knowledge and qualifications.
Responsibilities
* Provide calm, patient, and caring chair-side assistance for the dentist and support the patient during treatment.
* Prepare filling/impression materials and anticipate the clinician and patient needs; observe and support the patient; act as chaperone and witness when required.
* Follow Trust/local infection control procedures to ensure high standards of patient safety; maintain knowledge of health and safety issues (e.g., COSHH, RIDDOR, sharps injuries).
* Assist the dentist during the taking of x-rays and participate in quality assurance; advise patients/parents/carers on principles of oral hygiene as directed.
* Follow medicine management procedures in line with Trust policy.
* Plan and organise to ensure efficient day-to-day running of the surgery; manage stock levels and be familiar with dental equipment and decontamination/sterilisation procedures (HTM01-05).
* Provide administrative and nursing support, including epidemiology surveys, extended duties within scope of practice, reception/administrative duties when required, and stock management.
* Interpret patient and clinician needs to enable prompt and efficient care; maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
* Contribute to Trust internal and external communications as required and adhere to Trust/local policies.
* Engage with safeguarding responsibilities for children and adults at risk and maintain professional confidentiality in line with policy.
Qualifications & Experience
* Currently registered with the General Dental Council (GDC) and maintain professional registration.
* Experience as a Dental Nurse with the ability to provide treatment professionally; capacity to handle challenging situations and flexible to work additional hours if offered.
* Knowledge of health and safety issues (COSHH, RIDDOR, sharps injuries) and computer literacy for patient data entry, treatment planning, and transactions.
* Knowledge of decontamination and sterilisation procedures and the ability to work with sedation/anaesthesia where appropriate.
