Control Systems Engineer with PLC control systems and SCADA

We are seeking skilled engineers for a position that offers the opportunity to design, develop, and maintain cutting-edge PLC and HCI solutions for naval platform management systems deployed on the UK submarine fleet.
This role is ideal for engineers familiar with Siemens PLCs and large infrastructure SCADA solutions, focusing on functional safety and product security.
Our work supports UK-wide and internationally deployed multi-domain command and control systems, which are critical to the modern backbone of the Royal Navy.
Responsibilities:
1. Capture, interpret, and develop customer requirements
2. Produce technical documentation in accordance with company and customer procedures
3. Specify, design, and test solutions for PLC control systems
4. Manage data communications with third-party equipment
5. Develop PLC software from formats such as Block Diagrams, Flow Charts, or Pseudo Code
6. Validate software designs through analysis and testing
7. Support the preparation of contract changes and proposals
8. Ensure compliance with company standards and statutory requirements
9. Provide input to project meetings and team briefings
10. Undertake any other reasonable tasks as requested

We are looking for:
* Experience in designing and integrating large-scale PLC Control Systems based on Siemens S7-300/400 (Step 7 Professional Classic)
* Experience with Fault Tolerant, High Availability, and Safety Integrated PLC Solutions
* Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Profibus, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, ModBus, TCP/IP, UDP, and ASCII
* Proficiency in producing technical documentation
* Experience with SCADA/PLC interfacing and driver configuration
* Understanding of software development life cycles, processes, and procedures
* Minimum of 5 years in a PLC engineering environment
* Understanding of testing and commissioning processes
* Degree, HNC, HND, or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related disciplines such as CI engineering or Systems engineering
* Experience within Defence, Maritime (Ship's machinery and control systems), Aerospace, or similarly regulated sectors (e.g., Oil & Gas, Pharma, PetroChem)
