About the Role
We are looking for a SEMH Teaching Assistant to provide targeted support for pupils with additional social and emotional needs. This role will help pupils access the curriculum, develop resilience, and achieve their full potential, working closely with teachers and SEN coordinators to implement tailored interventions.
Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
* Assist with lesson preparation and differentiated learning activities.
* Implement behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
* Support pupils’ social and emotional development, promoting confidence and independence.
* Collaborate with teaching staff to monitor progress and adjust interventions as needed.
* Provide personal care support where required, ensuring dignity and safety.
* Maintain accurate records of interventions and pupil progress.
Qualifications
* Experience supporting pupils with SEMH or other SEN needs in an educational setting.
* Knowledge of behaviour management strategies, differentiation, and inclusive teaching practices.
* Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills.
* Ability to adapt support to meet individual pupil needs.
* Understanding of safeguarding and child protection requirements.
