Senior Planner – Energy, Waste & Strategic Development

Valencia Waste Management is seeking a highly motivated Senior Planner to join our growing planning team. This is an exciting and varied role offering exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects across the UK – from energy and waste facilities, to strategic land promotion, high-technology/data centre sites, and major residential/urban extension schemes.
About the Role:
As Senior Planner, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering complex projects that support sustainable growth and critical infrastructure. You will work closely with internal teams, external consultants, local authorities, and stakeholders to guide applications through the planning process and help unlock challenging sites.Your responsibilities will include:
* • Leading on the preparation, submission, and management of planning applications across a range of sectors.
* • Providing expert planning advice on energy, waste, data centre, residential, and strategic land projects.
* • Coordinating and managing external consultants to ensure timely delivery of planning workstreams.
* • Supporting land acquisition and development strategies through robust planning assessments.
* • Engaging with local authorities, statutory bodies, and communities to achieve positive outcomes.
* • Keeping abreast of planning policy and legislative changes relevant to Valencia's operations.
About You:
We are looking for someone with:
* A degree in Town Planning or related discipline (RTPI chartered or working towards chartership preferred).
* Demonstrable planning experience, ideally with exposure to large-scale or complex projects.
* Strong knowledge of UK planning law and policy frameworks.
* Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
* The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
* A proactive and solution-focused mindset.Experience in energy, waste, or infrastructure planning would be advantageous, but we welcome applicants with a broad planning background who are keen to diversify their portfolio.
