The Opportunity
As Business Unit Controller, you will lead the commercial strategy for key retail accounts while identifying and unlocking new business opportunities across the UK market.
You’ll work cross-functionally with Category Insight, NPD, and Commercial teams to deliver long-term growth, first-to-market innovation, and exceptional customer relationships.
This role is ideal for a strategic commercial leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a strong track record within FMCG or retail-facing food businesses.
Key Responsibilities
* Build and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships
* Identify and secure new business opportunities across the UK market
* Develop and deliver strategic growth plans with retail partners
* Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Commercial team
* Collaborate with NPD and Category teams to deliver consumer-led innovation
* Drive promotional activity to maximise profitability and category growth
* Lead commercial negotiations including pricing and agreements
* Oversee forecasting, account administration, and promotional planning
* Analyse performance data and provide strategic recommendations
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a commercially astute and influential leader with:
* Strong experience within product or category management, ideally with one of the UK’s major retailers
* Proven success in commercial negotiations and customer relationship management
* Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing teams
* Strong understanding of category management tools and market insights
* Commercial awareness with experience in forecasting and business performance analysis
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* The ability to identify emerging food trends and market opportunities
* A proactive, strategic mindset with strong analytical capability
