1-2 months contract with a Local Authority Job Summary: • Thurrock Council is seeking a Technical Licensing Officer to join the Place directorate on a short-term interim basis to support increased service demand. • The postholder will provide technical and administrative support to the Council’s licensing functions, ensuring applications, compliance activity and records are processed accurately and in line with statutory and Council requirements. • The role will require close working with internal teams, applicants and stakeholders to support the effective delivery of licensing services. Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample): • Provide technical and administrative support across licensing functions, ensuring accurate processing of applications, renewals and variations. • Assist in the administration of licensing regimes in line with relevant legislation, policies and procedures. • Maintain accurate records, databases and case files in accordance with data protection requirements. • Support compliance and enforcement activity by preparing documentation and assisting with follow-up actions where required. • Respond to routine enquiries from applicants, members of the public and internal stakeholders in a professional and timely manner. • Liaise with internal services and external agencies to support the licensing process. • Ensure work is completed within agreed timescales and service standards. • Support the team with general administrative tasks as required to meet service demand. Skills/Experience: • Experience working in a local authority licensing, regulatory or technical support role is desirable. • Knowledge or understanding of licensing legislation and local authority procedures. • Strong administrative and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail. • Ability to manage workloads effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. • Good communication skills, both written and verbal. • Competent IT skills, including the use of databases and Microsoft Office applications. • Understanding of data protection principles (Data Protection Level 1 training desirable). • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
