A role in MI5 meansyou’ll do unique and challenging work in a supportive and encouragingenvironment, making a real difference to UK national security.The roleAs a leader in our on-site Occupational Health team, you’ll play a crucialpart in protecting and promoting the health and wellbeing ofcolleagues. With opportunities to have a strategic impact on how wecreate a positive health and wellbeing culture, and with plenty of uniquechallenges, you’ll enjoy variety and influence as you ensure yourcolleagues are able to complete their mission-critical work safely.You’ll provide leadership and oversight of the service provisionalongside management of more complex casework. You’ll supportemployees with advice on how to manage their health conditions in the
workplace, while providing travel clearances, risk assessments, healthsurveillance, and fitness for work medicals. Your advice will be relevantand timely, and your recommendations will always be in line withmedical standards and legislation.Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do, so you’ll work closelywith colleagues towards the overall goal of creating a positive andproactive health and wellbeing culture. You’ll work with a multi-disciplinary team – colleagues from Wellbeing, Safety and Psychology– as well as other healthcare professionals. You’ll take opportunities toshadow different teams in the organisation(s) to better understandhow to support our employees, while also working with partners, suchas HR, to provide the best possible service.Due to the nature of this role, it will be office based with only limitedopportunities for homeworking. However, we offer a range of flexibleworking options including part-time, compressed hours and job share,plus flexibility in your start and finish times. You’ll be employed by MI5,but you’ll be based and work predominantly with people at GCHQ.Occasional UK travel may be required and, if you’re interested,international travel may also be an option depending on businessneeds.About youAs well as demonstrable line management experience, you’ll be aqualified Occupational Health Advisor – registered with NMC Part 1 –with good knowledge of occupational health and employmentlegislation. You will be an experienced Senior Occupational HealthAdvisor, who has previously managed an Occupational Health team andworked within a wider multi-disciplinary team.You’ll have experience managing diverse and complex caseloads,including supporting both physical and mental health needs, and using
analytical skills you’ll be able to make evidence-based decisions andprovide effective solutions. Your leadership skills will enable the serviceprovision to prioritise and support the needs of individuals and theorganisation accordingly.Training and development When you start, you’ll get an organisation induction and a buddy to helpyou settle in.
