They have a team of highly skilled craftspeople making beautiful fabric lampshades within a busy and demanding high-end market. Due to continued success and growth, they are now recruiting for a full-time Metalworker and Wiring Fabricator to join a friendly team based wholly on-site in Portslade. This role would suit someone who is as comfortable with technical accuracy and precision as with creative decisions and processes. This is a great opportunity for you to develop the role and department and make it your own, making a difference in a growing company! The job - What will you be responsible for? Joining as a Bespoke Metalworker and Wiring Fabricator, you will be responsible for making metal frames, wiring up special electrics and fittings such as pendants and vintage rewiring, ensuring frames are accurate and fit for purpose as well as working within the team to help in product development. Full training will be given, although knowledge and experience an advantage. This role has the opportunity to grow as the company grows and as the department grows – there is plenty of potential in our client's product offering. Duties include: Making, prototyping and preparing lampshade frames for projects, prototyping and stock jobs. Electrifying bespoke lighting assemblies, rewiring vintage lamps, building and assembly of lighting pieces. Working as part of the project team in planning, advising and prototyping bespoke projects. Assist the frame team signing in frames/managing frame process for all jobs. Production support as appropriate. Organisation and maintenance of studio space. Responsible for machinery, wiring components and tooling – maintenance and care. Requirements: Experience working with metal, TIG welding and/or fabricating decorative metal. Interest or experience in the electronic circuits and wiring. Experience making things. Excellent organisational skills. A great eye for detail. Experience in a production environment would be ideal. Friendly and team-orientated manner. Can-do, flexible and adaptable attitude. Ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
