Overview
We are seeking a skilled Infrastructure Platform Engineer with deep expertise in Rubrik and VMware to support the organisation’s transition toward a modern, resilient data protection and backup environment. This role will play a key part in establishing a new Infrastructure Platform Team responsible for the end‑to‑end management, optimisation, and resilience of the Rubrik and VMware estate across the enterprise.
The ideal candidate will blend strong technical proficiency with excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, enabling effective collaboration with Business Resilience, Security, Infrastructure Operations, and other cross‑functional teams. Experience within insurance or financial services is highly desirable due to regulatory, resilience, and data‑critical requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Rubrik & Data Protection
Lead the migration of existing data backups and data protection workloads to Rubrik, ensuring a smooth and controlled transition.
Design, maintain, and optimise Rubrik‑based backup, recovery, archival, and disaster‑recovery workflows.
Develop and enforce data protection policies, ensuring alignment with organisational risk and compliance standards.
VMware Infrastructure
Support and enhance the VMware virtualisation estate, ensuring stability, performance, and scalability.
Contribute to the overall infrastructure platform strategy, including automation, standardisation, and lifecycle management.
Recovery & Resilience
Lead and support recovery planning, testing, and execution of recovery operations, working closely with Business Resilience teams.
Establish and maintain runbooks, recovery guides, and readiness plans.
Provide expert input into resilience improvements, risk assessments, and regulatory reporting as required.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
Work collaboratively with Business Resilience, Engineering, Architecture, Security, and Application teams to align platform capabilities with business needs.
Translate technical information into clear, actionable requirements for non‑technical stakeholders.
Act as a subject‑matter expert for data protection and recovery best practices.
Platform Team Contribution
Play a foundational role in shaping the new Infrastructure Platform Team, contributing to operating model design, processes, and technical governance.
Support continuous improvement initiatives, including automation, monitoring, and operational maturity.
Skills & Experience
Essential
Hands‑on expertise with Rubrik backup and data protection technologies.
Strong operational knowledge of VMware virtualisation platforms.
Experience delivering data recovery, recovery planning, and resilience testing.
Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Proven ability to engage with Business Resilience teams and support regulatory or operational resilience outcomes.
Desirable
Experience in insurance or financial services environments.
Knowledge of regulated data management requirements (, operational resilience, PRA/FCA frameworks).
Experience contributing to or establishing platform‑based operating models.
