Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant - Full-Time

We are looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and inclusive school community in Blackburn. This is a full-time position starting in September, ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them reach their full potential.
Role Overview
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to support pupils with a range of special educational needs. You will play a key role in creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where all pupils feel supported and valued.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN
* Assist in the planning and delivery of tailored learning activities
* Support pupils with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties
* Help manage behaviour in line with the school's policies
* Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and SENCO
* Support pupils' social, emotional, and mental health development
* Assist with personal care where required
* Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
Requirements
* Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) – essential
* Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs
* Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team
* A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach
* Commitment to supporting the individual needs of every child
Desirable Skills & Experience
* Experience working in a school or educational setting
* Knowledge of SEN strategies and interventions
* Experience supporting children with autism or behavioural needs
* First Aid training (or willingness to undertake training)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
