Secondment/Fixed term opportunity for 6 months to improve service delivery.

Applications are invited for the post of a Learning Disability Charge Nurse in the Learning Disability Acute Liaison Service, based in Forth Valley Royal hospital.

This band 6 post is a full-time, 1 year seconded post or fixed term, of 37 hours per week for a highly motivated and experienced RNLD. The post holder will have excellent communication skills, and be able to adapt their communication style to support patients in acute care. Ensuring clear communication across acute care, private sector and the learning disability multidisciplinary team, is a fundamental element of this role, and candidates must ensure clear communication between all professionals at all times.

It is essential that the post holder has expert knowledge into the physical and mental health needs of people with a learning disability when accessing acute care, as well as crisis and complex care needs. Post holder is expected to support all elements of the patient journey from admission to discharge, by providing individualised support to a high standard of care. Additionally the post holder will be expected to support education and training needs of acute staff and nursing students when supporting a patient with a learning disability in their care.

Case load management, acting as an autonomous practitioner, with ability to work across teams and services are skills essential to this post. Evidence of experience and/or professional development in leadership and collaborative working is also desirable.

Post holder will have good understanding of legal frameworks including, The Mental Health (Care and Treatment) ( Scotland ) Act 2003, Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000, Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014 and Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act.

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
