Principal Responsibilities
Facilitate, promote and supervise education, clinical practice and audit. Contribute to Quality Governance and attend relevant clinical meetings. Identify and contribute to others clinical training needs. Ensure the promotion of issues of equality, diversity and rights in accordance with good practice and legislation. Ensure effective communication pathways. Clinical ensuring that the MDT assesses all patients by completing a thorough history, mental state examination, case formulation and physical examination. Responsible for ensuring the completion of necessary CPA, Managers Hearings and Mental Health Tribunal reports in conjunction with the MDT. Attend and chair enhanced Care Programme Approach meetings, clinical reviews, Managers Hearings, Mental Health Review Tribunals and other clinical meetings considered appropriate. Provide treatments in line with current guidelines and best practice and review medication and manage monitoring protocols. Assessment of service user needs with emphasis on collaborative working. Working with service users and their families and carers, building upon their strengths and abilities. Assisting in access to a range of rehabilitation therapies and using community resources, vocational training and employment opportunities. Ensuring monitoring and treatment of comorbidities in conjunction with the primary care services. Provide leadership to the MDT and getting the best communication liaise with all members of the MDT, GPs, relatives and other professional agencies.

The post holder is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely written records are kept which comply with organisational policy and professional guidance, reporting on any issues as appropriate. The post holder is responsible for ensuring they comply with current good practice in informing/updating all members of the multi‑disciplinary team, their colleagues, service users, carers and appropriate others regarding changes involving current plans of care, change and progress in presentation and wellbeing, mental state and psychosocial factors in line with best practice.
The post holder is responsible for ensuring that the MDT clearly communicates with patients and carers, actively listening to establish an understanding of the needs of the service user and their carers. Professional responsible for participation in the CPD, appraisal and revalidation process as required by the GMC and Royal College of Psychiatrists, identifying own/others mandatory professional and personal development and training needs. To participate and contribute appropriately in research, service modernization and clinical governance. To respect and value the different therapeutic approaches within the multi‑disciplinary team but ensure that the agreed philosophy and approach is adopted and followed.
Responsible for ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times in accordance with current data protection legislation, policies and good practice. Responsible for maintaining and conducting oneself in a professional manner towards service users, carers, colleagues and other agencies. Participate in joint working with appropriate experts/agencies. Marketing Represent Options for Care by promoting a positive personal/professional profile within the local community and when engaging with stakeholders.
Training & Development Participation in Continued Professional Development in order to keep abreast of current best practice and be aware of important developments within the field of medicine. The post holder will be supervised by the Consultant Psychiatrist to ensure annual appraisal of performance is undertaken which includes training needs analysis and personal development plan.
Organisational The post holder is responsible for ensuring that they contribute and work towards the service/organisational aims and objectives. The post holder as an individual is required to understand their responsibility for respecting and promoting issues of equality, diversity and rights in accordance with good practice and legislation.
Responsible for reading, understanding and complying with all relevant policies and procedures. Additional Responsibilities The post holder will: Attend statutory and mandatory training as necessary as specified by Options for Care Ltd. Carry out other duties identified by the senior team commensurate with their role as and when required. The post holder will be required to provide reciprocal cover for colleagues during annual leave, study and short-term sick leave.
The post will include on call responsibilities. Promote and ensure the good reputation of the Organisation. Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence. Ensure the security of the Hospital/Organisation is maintained at all times. Adhere to all policies and procedures, protocols, CQC standards and guidelines, Department of Health guidelines and legislations, including the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Codes of Practice.
