I am currently recruiting for an experienced Buying Manager to join an established and well-loved food retailer. This is a great opportunity for a commercial and product focused Buyer / Sourcing Manager to join the grocery team, responsible for their private label products with a focus on fresh foods.
You will be responsible for supporting the Head of Buying to deliver commercially focused product ranges that meet both Departmental and Company targets, while maintaining a strategic business focus to ensure continued growth within the department.
Responsibilities
* Lead your team of Buyers to manage their individual categories
* Building & maintaining strong relationships with suppliers
* Ensuring selected product lines achieve season defined timeframes
* Sourcing suppliers & negotiating best cost prices
* Analysing sales figures to plan successful future lines
* Plan & deliver specific promotions & events within your department
* Attending trade shows / outlets, supplier markets
* Negotiate the best possible contracts & terms
* Plan & forecast ahead 6/12-month future strategies
* Monitor continual competitor and price analysis to stay ahead
* Presenting reports, figures, and trend information to the Senior Management team
* Develop the Buying team to ensure they fulfil their individual career potential
Key requirements
* Proven previous experience as a Buying Manager or Sourcing Manager within a food retail environment
* Ability to influence and negotiate effectively
* Able to adapt swiftly in a fast-paced market
* Strong leadership skills
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively at all levels
* Good working knowledge of budgets and managing conflicting projects
* Excellent understanding of all MS Office products
