Description
At Wigan & Leigh College, you'll teach plastering to students at various stages of their training, covering both the technical skills and the professional standards the trade expects. You'll deliver practical and theory-based sessions, assess progress and help students build the consistency and finish that employers look for.
What you'll do
* Plan and deliver lessons across Level 1 to 3 to help our students achieve their academic potential and the practical, employability skills they'll need for their future careers.
* Mark work, give clear feedback, and guide our students on how they can improve.
* Use assessment results to shape lessons and support each student's progress.
* Monitor attendance and promote positive behaviour.
* Keep accurate records of student progress, assessments, and other administrative duties.
* Act as a Personal Tutor when needed, providing pastoral advice and guidance.
* Support induction, record achievements, and help students plan their next steps.
* Take part in Open Evenings, school liaison and activities that promote your subject area.
* Coordinate courses and contribute to departmental initiatives.
* Keep up to date with developments in your subject and best practice in teaching and assessment.
What you'll bring
* Degree or vocational qualification in Plastering or a related area.
* GCSE English and Maths (Grade C or equivalent) – you can get this during your probationary period.
* Teaching qualification, or you're willing to work towards one with our support.
* Up‑to‑date and relevant subject knowledge that you're excited to share with students.
* Confidence with IT and e‑learning tools and Information and Learning Technology (ILT) to enhance our students' experience.
