Please note this is a 12 month FTC opportunity We are looking for a proactive and highly organised Operations Specialist to join our Ops Control Centre (OCC) team at Carterton. This is a critical operational role supporting the delivery of the AirTanker flying programme, working closely with the Duty Operations Manager to coordinate safe, legal and efficient operations within a 48-hour planning window. Working closely with the Duty Operations Manager, OCC colleagues, external partners and military stakeholders, you will coordinate and communicate critical operational information, directly contributing to aircraft availability and overall operational performance. Adventure & Belonging: Battlefield tours, adventure training, and family fun days. What you'll be doing Act as the main point of contact for incoming calls to the Ops Control Centre. Control access to the OCC and support its day-to-day running. Communicate operational information quickly and accurately to internal OCC teams and stakeholders. Liaise effectively with external agencies and authority bodies on operational matters. Coordinate closely with RAF Brize Norton, including managing 20‑mile aircraft arrival call rounds. Provide flight watch and operational support to deployed or off-base operations. Monitor and respond to Emails, ACARS and AFTN messages. Compile flight documentation, including MET and NOTAM briefing packs when required. Support Duty Ops personnel with Voyager deployed operations. Prepare and update the Daily Operations Brief for the OCC Manager. Process post‑flight documentation, ensuring legality and system accuracy. Maintain accurate operational records and log/report errors appropriately. Deliver effective handovers and contribute to consolidated shift briefs. Actively support and comply with the AirTanker Safety Management System. What you'll bring Experience in an airline operations or control room environment (desirable). Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and work to tight deadlines. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Confident using Microsoft Office applications. Proven ability to maintain accurate records in complex environments. A collaborative team player who can also work autonomously. Strong problem-solving skills. Proficient in English (written, verbal and reading) – ICAO Level 4.
