Key Responsibilities
* Triage and patient assessment: perform initial assessments, triage by severity, evaluate history, conduct physicals, and identify urgent health issues.
* Emergency care and treatment: administer medications and treatments, provide wound care and trauma procedures, perform CPR, ACLS, and trauma care, assist with resuscitation including ventilators, intubation, and defibrillation.
* Collaboration with medical team: work with physicians and nurses to develop care plans, assist with diagnostics (labs, imaging, ECGs), communicate patient status clearly.
* Monitoring and documentation: monitor patients, document assessments and treatments in the EHR, ensure compliance with legal and hospital standards.
* Patient and family communication: explain diagnoses and plans, provide emotional support, advocate for patient needs and coordinate care with other departments.
* Infection control and safety: follow infection control protocols and PPE usage, maintain safe and sterile ER environment, respond to biohazardous situations.
* Crisis management: handle emergencies, maintain composure, prioritize care based on acuity and resources.
* Discharge and follow-up: provide discharge instructions and follow-up care information.
* Teamwork and mentorship: collaborate with ER staff, mentor new nurses and students.
Qualifications
* RN in good standing with appropriate Emergency Department experience
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure ER environment
* Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
