Overview
Environmental Manager role at VolkerWessels UK. VolkerHighways is a market leader in highways and street lighting term maintenance. The team collaborates with clients to drive improvements, efficiency, and environmental performance. You will help ensure compliance with Environmental legislation and corporate requirements, driving pollution prevention, waste reduction, and biodiversity protection.
You will raise environmental awareness, coordinate internal planning meetings, inspections and audits, and support the development and maintenance of the Environmental Management System (EMS).
Responsibilities
* Help ensure VolkerHighways meets all Environmental legislation and corporate requirements.
* Drive pollution prevention, waste reduction, and biodiversity protection.
* Raise environmental awareness across the business.
* Coordinate internal planning meetings, inspections and audits.
* Support the development and maintenance of the Environmental Management System (EMS).
Qualifications
* Relevant experience in Highways Term Maintenance.
* Associate member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) and a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv).
* Qualified internal environmental auditor with demonstrable internal auditing experience; Lead Auditor status beneficial but not essential.
* Understanding of BS EN ISO 14001:2004/2015 and experience in facilitating registration surveillance visits.
* Affiliate member of the Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM).
* Working knowledge of current and impending environmental legislation.
* Self-confidence to build strong working relationships internally and externally.
