London
Theirworld
Project assistant
€30,000 a year
Posted: 1 June
Offer description

Founded 24 years ago, Theirworld has grown to become a leading global children’s charity aiming to end the global education crisis and unleash the potential of the next generation. We work to ensure that every child has the best start in life, a safe place to learn, and skills for the future. We deliver life‑changing projects and run powerful campaigns to unlock big change. Our current campaign, Act For Early Years, demands urgent action to end the early years crisis. It calls for the first ever financing summit for early years, which is part of the effort to mobilise $1 billion in investments for the support and services the world’s youngest children need. We believe in unlocking big change from a supportive and inclusive environment. This is why we now have an innovative 4‑day‑working‑week which sees all employees working Monday to Thursday with the office closed on most Fridays. This is in addition to hybrid working with most staff taking at least one day a week based in the office.

Other benefits include:

* Regular in‑house training
* Travel
* Central London location: 5 mins from Liverpool St Station and Shoreditch High Street
* Highly competitive salaries, plus more
* Cycle to work scheme
* Home office expense allowance
* Life Insurance
* Season ticket loan scheme

About the role

At the heart of our work is our Global Youth Ambassador programme, where we support a network of over 2,000 young education campaigners around the world. We are seeking a hard‑working Project Assistant to join this busy, high‑performing team.

The Project Assistant position will play a critical role in supporting the delivery and operations of our flagship programme. The successful candidate will have very strong attention to detail, time management and organisational skills, as well as enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to make a positive contribution to the team and our youth engagement work.

Theirworld’s Global Youth Ambassador programme is a network of incredible young campaigners (18‑30 years old) from across the world who are working together to campaign for the delivery of Sustainable Development Goal 4 – inclusive and equitable quality education for all – by 2030. The programme focuses on supporting networking and connections between young people, providing training and skills development, and facilitating exciting and impactful campaigning opportunities. We currently have more than 2,000 Global Youth Ambassadors across 140 countries. It is the programme’s aim to ensure young people have the tools, knowledge, opportunity and inspiration to advocate for education.

This role may suit a recent graduate, or someone with at least a year of experience in administration or project coordination who is looking to build their experience in international youth programming and the NGO sector. The Project Assistant will report into the Youth Engagement Manager, while working closely with other members of the team and assisting the broader implementation of the programme. This role is based in our London office, and we are currently operating a hybrid schedule with several days per month in the office and the remainder of the time working remotely. This a full‑time fixed‑term role, initially for one year.

Main responsibilities

* Interacting with young people around the world by processing their applications to join the network, onboarding new members, and assisting their participation in the programme.

Assisting in the logistical coordination of Global Youth Ambassador events and activities (virtual and in‑person).

* Conducting eligibility reviews of network members.
* Processing members leaving the network when they graduate the programme.
* Assisting the Global Youth Ambassador programme team in communicating with the network, including writing content for the newsletters, posting on social media, responding to emails, and organising the dedicated youth inbox.

Regularly recording and tracking programme metrics for monitoring, evaluation and learning purposes.

* Regularly monitoring and posting on the bespoke Global Youth Ambassador online platform.
* Assisting the programme team to monitor, flag and make swift and effective responses to any safeguarding issues affecting our Global Youth Ambassadors (in close collaboration and under overall guidance of our Safeguarding Lead).
* Additional duties as assigned.

Experience, skills, and character

* Passionate about ending the global education crisis and the role that young people can play in making quality education for all a reality.
* Strong eye for detail and demonstrable organisational and administrative skills, experience of organising events or travel is a plus.
* Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks while navigating long‑term timelines.
* Cultural sensitivity and understanding when interacting with a diverse audience.
* The ability to get to grips with new information and processes quickly, following guidance and instruction in a timely and thorough manner.
* Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines, and generally to have a high bar for quality in your own work as well as your colleagues.
* A collaborative, hands‑on attitude and team player approach, with a problem‑solving, self‑starter mindset and the ability to take initiative.
* A commitment to Theirworld’s aims and a clear understanding of the contribution that campaigning can make to achieve our mission and how it can best link with other parts of the organisation’s work.
* An understanding and experience of inclusive approaches to working with young people, particularly internationally, is a plus.

This position is only open to applicants with the right to work in the UK.

If you have a disability and would prefer to apply in a different format or would like us to make any reasonable adjustments to enable you to apply or attend any interview, please let us know.
