Wanted: Building Management System (BMS) Engineer

Location: UK Wide – Predominantly in South of England but occasional site visits around UK (Based at Office in Staines upon Thames)

The Role:
As a BMS Engineer at Ultramech Limited, you will be responsible for the comprehensive management, maintenance, and optimisation of Building Management Systems across a portfolio of commercial and residential buildings located throughout the South of England. This is a crucial field-based role where you will act as the primary point of contact for all BMS-related queries and ensure the efficient operation of complex building services.
Key Responsibilities:
* PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance): Execute routine PPM schedules for various BMS platforms (e.g., Trend, Tridium, Siemens, Honeywell – specify if particular systems are preferred), ensuring optimal system performance and longevity.
* Reactive Maintenance & Fault Finding: Respond promptly to BMS-related alarms and faults, diagnose complex issues, and carry out effective repairs to minimise downtime and maintain building services.
* System Optimisation: Proactively identify opportunities to improve building energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and operational effectiveness through BMS adjustments and enhancements.
* Commissioning & Integration: Assist with the commissioning of new BMS installations and the integration of new plant into existing systems.
* Trend Analysis & Reporting: Monitor and analyse BMS trend data to identify performance anomalies, produce detailed reports, and provide recommendations for improvement.
* Client Liaison: Build and maintain strong relationships with site managers, clients, and other stakeholders, providing expert advice and clear communication.
* Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all BMS configurations, changes, and service records.
* Emergency Response: Participate in an on-call rota for out-of-hours emergencies (if applicable).
What We're Looking For:
* Proven experience as a BMS Engineer, with a strong background in maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimising various BMS platforms (e.g., Trend, Tridium, Siemens, Honeywell, etc.).
* Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, and other building services systems.
* Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and control logic.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining complex technical issues to non-technical individuals.
* Self-motivated, organised, and able to manage a busy workload across multiple sites.
* Relevant electrical qualifications (e.g., 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations) and health & safety certifications are highly desirable.
* Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
