Birmingham (West Midlands)
Mencap
Area manager
Posted: 3 November
Offer description

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and self-motivated Education Area Manager to support our Supported Internships Programme as part of the Mencap Training Academy. This role requires the successful applicant to be a driver. The Education Area Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring Mencap’s Supported Internship programme delivers outstanding education provision that secures positive outcomes, with the learners at the centre of everything we do. The successful candidate will coach, mentor and develop a team of Programme Coordinators who lead on the delivery of supported internships across Birmingham, Worcester, Staffordshire and Northamptonshire.

This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent position. It will require the postholder to travel to sites, approximately 2-3 days per week so a driver is an essential criterion. The rest of the time this role can be performed from home. At Mencap we enable colleagues, where the role allows, to be able to work from wherever is comfortable, giving colleagues flexibility.

Responsibilities / What you will do

As an Education Area Manager it will be important to develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with colleagues in other departments who support and enable delivery of the programme through data, compliance, quality and finance. You will work closely with the Regional Programme Manager to drive a culture of high performing, compliant teams that secure positive outcomes for the learners on our programmes.

Qualifications / Essentials

* An ability to coach and mentor colleagues to enable them to lead and manage staff teams to deliver high quality programmes
* Excellent communication skills and an ability to work effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders
* An ability to manage different situations in a sensitive and timely manner
* Integrity and professionalism
* A commitment to help others do for themselves
* An ability to listen and understand what support is needed
* Knowledge of supported internship programmes
* Knowledge and experience of Ofsted and the Education Inspection Framework
* Experience delivering coaching or learning and development solutions
* Driver

This is not an exhaustive list of the role or its requirements; please read the full job description for more details.
